Against RFS playing with three goalkeepers

On Thursday, in the 26th round game of the Latvian Highest league, "Riga" in away game lost to RFS with scoreline of 0:3. Goalkeepers Nils Puriņš and Iļja Isajevs played as a forwards, but 18-year-old second team player Nikita Silakovs made his debut.

We had not trained for the last ten days, as 14 footballers had previously been diagnosed with Covid-19. The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) decided to continue the championship, despite the fact that there were several "Covid-19" cases in other teams.

In such a situation, "Riga" put goalkeeper Nils Puriņš in attack against RFS, while 18-year-old Nikita Silakov made his debut in the Highest league. The team showed great fighting spirit in the first half. RFS had a number of good opportunities, but they did not take them. "Riga" also few time got in the opponents penalty box, and Puriņš several earned applause for great epizodes. With a good team game we ended the first half with a draw 0:0.

Of course, it was very difficult to physically endure the whole game after such a long break. In any case, RFS still was lucky to score first goal. On 68th minute, Tomas Simkovic made a shot from long distance and scored after lucky ricochet. We had a great chance after that when Elvis Stuglis showed great speed and individual skills, but could no take his chance in the of the attack. On 83rd minute own goal was scored by Vladislavs Fjodorovs (0:2). In the last minute of additional time Janis Ikaunieks scored penalty - 0:3.
