A dramatic win in the first game

Tonight, in Mežaparks Sports Village, in the first round of the Latvian Highest league, we defeated "Jelgava" with the result 2:1 in a dramatic game. The goals were scored by Hrvoje Babec and Marko Regža. Riga derby against RFS already on Saturday!

Last season, we took the second place in the highest league of Latvia. "Jelgava" became the champion in Latvia's second strongest championship. In the off-season, we conducted a high-quality preparatory phase in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

In the first half of the game, we had a big advantage in ball control. In the first minutes of the game, Douglas Aurelio had a good chance, but the midfielder unsuccessfully shot from the edge of the penalty area. "Jelgava" was waiting for its opportunities in counterattacks and they got one, after which goalkeeper Nils Puriņš saved us. We had a few more good moments, but we didn't score. After the first half, it was tied 0:0.

We started the second half very actively. We created one moment after another, and scored the first goal in the 52nd minute of the game. After Raivis Jurkovski's shot, the goalkeeper saved the opponents, and then Hrvoje Babec scored the first goal of the season from close range (1:0). We continued to dominate, but Oskars Rubenis scored a fantastic goal in the 68th minute (1:1). In the final part of the game, we went forward with all our strength, and Marco Regža scored from close range in the last minutes. Victory with 2:1.
