An important victory against Liepāja

Tonight at the Skonto Stadium, in the 29th round of the Latvian Highest league, in an important game we defeated "Liepāja" with the scoreline of 2:0. The next game is on September 30 against "Super Nova".

Our last victory against "Liepāja" was in May 2021. In the last five games against "Liepāja" we had three losses and two draws.

We scored the first goal in the seventh minute of the game. Douglas Aurelio played well individually on the left side, the Portuguese midfielder made a strong shot, and the opposing defender Ignacio Miguel kicked the ball into his own goal. In the first half of the game, we controlled the ball more than the opponents, but there were few dangerous moments at the "Liepāja" goal. In the final part of the half, "Liepāja" had two chances to score, but it did not happen. After the first half, we were leading 1:0.

In the second half it was a close came from both sides. In the 63rd minute, we scored the second goal. On the left side, Aurelia was great again, the Portuguese crossed the ball in the penalty area, and Marcelo Torres scored from close range - 2:0. This was the eighth goal for the Argentinian forward in nine Latvian championship games. Both teams could score in the rest of the game. Nils Toms Puriņš played a very convincing game in our goal. In the final result, we won with a score of 2:0.
