Draw in the Riga derby

Tonight in the 27th round game of the Latvian Highest league, in the Riga derby, we drew 1:1 against RFS. Douglas Aureliu scored the only goal for our team. The next game is on September 11 in Valmiera.

This season, each of the teams had earned one victory in the Riga derbies - on April 27, we lost in an away match with the scoreline of 1:2, but on May 27, at the Skonto Stadium, we won with a scoreline of 2:0.

In the first half, we controlled the ball more, created more goal-scoring moments, but for a long time we were unable to score. In the 35th minute, Douglas Aurelio played masterfully individually in the penalty area, in the end the Portuguese made a shot, and the opponents were saved by the goal post. Nine minutes later, RFS made a mistake in their own half, Marcelo Torres got the ball, the striker passed to Aurelio and he fired powerfully into the near top corner. After the first half we were in the lead with 1:0.

In the second half, RFS put good pressure on our goal. The hosts made a series of good attacks. In the 57th minute, after a pass from the right side, Emerson scored a goal from close range - 1:1. In the continuation, the opponents attacked more, but did not score a goal. In the final part of the game, Tomislav Saric brought down Gabriel Ramos in the opponent's penalty area, but the referee did not award a penalty kick. A few minutes later, Mohamed Ouadah was sent off. No more goals were scored - a 1:1 draw.

The next game will be against Valmiera on September 11.
