1:1 against Portuguese "Gil Vicente"

Tonight at the Skonto stadium in the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League we drew 1:1 against the Portuguese championship club "Gil Vicente". On August 11, the second leg match in Barselos. 

In the first round of qualification, we defeated one of the strongest teams in the Irish Championship, "Derry City" (2:0, 2:0), and in the second round, we won against Slovakia's vice-champion "Ružomberok" (3:0, 2:1).

In the first half of the game, we demonstrated a very high-quality game. In the 18th minute, we scored the first goal in this game. The Finnish midfielder Mikael Soisalo played perfectly on the right side, passed to Douglas Aurelio to the front of the goal, and the midfielder shot the ball into the goal - 1:0. In the last ten minutes of the half, the guests played more with the ball. "Gil Vicente" crossed the ball several times in the penalty area, but did not score. After the first 45 minutes of the game, we were leading with the result 1:0.

The Portuguese dominated the second half. "Gil Vicente" controlled the ball a lot, created attacks and looked for opportunities to score the first goal of the game. The visitors created several dangerous scoring chances and deservedly scored. In the 63rd minute, Juan Boselli made a fantastic shot from about 16 meters - 1:1. In the continuation of the game, the opponents had more possession of the ball, but no more goals were scored in this game. Draw 1:1.
