Draw in Liepaja

On Friday, in the 20th round of the Latvian Highest league in an away match we played a draw 0:0 against "Liepāja"! Next week we will play first game of Conference league qualification. 

We have played against "Liepāja" twice this season, and we lost in both games. In the first game in Liepāja, the home team won 1:0, but in the second game in Mežaparks we lost with the same result 0:1.

In the first half of the match, "Liepāja" had the best chance. Home team forward Mankenda went one-on-one with Nils Puriņš, made a shot, but the ball hit the goal post. Both teams played quite slow football and overall there were very few scoring opportunities. We executed several crosses in the penalty area, but there were no dangerous shots. After the first half, it was tied 0:0.

Nothing changed significantly on the field in the second half. Either team could win. We were closer to victory. In the 80th minute, Douglas Aurelio had a very good chance to score. The midfielder received the ball in the penalty area, made strong shot, but the opponents were saved by the goalkeeper. Douglas made another shot in the last minutes of the game - again the goalkeeper played well. Draw 0:0.

Next week, we will play the 1st round of the UEFA European Conference League qualification against the Irish championship club "Derry City". First game on Thursday in Northern Ireland.
