In the first game of the championship we will face "Valmiera"

Before the 2022 season, we held two training camps - in the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. In these countries, we played a total of 11 friendly games - four wins, four draws and three losses.

In preparation for the new season, we signed contracts with nine newcomers. At the beginning of the year, we appointed the famous German specialist Thorsten Fink as the head coach. During player's career with "Bayern", Fink won the UEFA Champions League in 2001, won the Bundesliga four times, won the German Cup three times and won the German League cup four times. In his coaching career, Finks is a two-time Swiss champion and cup winner, as well as a Japanese Cup and Super Cup winner.

Last season was a failure. We were very close to entering the Conference League group tournament, but we lost to the Gibraltar champions in the last round. After that, the team was no longer able to show its best performance, and we got only the fourth place in the Latvian championship after three titles.

"Valmiera" earned the historically highest place last season, ranking second. Last season we played against Valmiera four times - one win (1: 0), two draws (1:1, 0: 0) and one loss (1: 2). In total, we have played against "Valmiera" in the highest league of Latvia 15 times - nine wins, three draws and three losses.

The head coach of "Valmiera" is no longer Georgian Tamaz Pertija. This season the team will be led by Latvian specialist Jurģis Kalns. This year, the Valmiera team spent most of the preparation process in a training camp in Turkey.
