AFTER BREAK AN IMPORTANT GAME IN VENTSPILS

The Latvian Championship will resume tomorrow. "Riga" FC will meet with Ventspils in an important game of the 18th round. This game starts at 16:00! Best4SportTV channel will show the match live!

In the last two weeks there was a break in the championship of Latvia due to the matches of the national teams. Roberts Ozols, Antonijs Chernomordijs, Ritvars Rugins, Vladislavs Fedorovs and Elvis Stuglis played in the Latvian national team among Riga footballers, while the Latvian U21 team was represented by Nils Toms Purins.

The last period before the break was not successful for "Riga". In the Champions League qualification we lost to Maccabi Telaviv 0:2, but in the Latvian championship the series of 14 victories was interrupted - many unused chances on our field and the defeat in the Riga derby against RFS (0:2).

After the last game the players had a couple of days of rest, but then we began active training at the Keizarmezs sports camp. We trained twice a day. Also this week the team held all trainings in Mezaparks. During this time, we worked hard, analyzed previous games, and now the team is ready for the second part of the season.

Tomorrow is the away game against Ventspils. A team against which there have always been difficult games. This season, in the only our game against "Ventspils"  at the Skonto stadium, we won with a score of 1:0. The only goal was scored by the Ukrainian striker Roman Debelko in the 79th minute. Last season in Ventspils we lost both games - 0: 1 and 1:2. It should be noted that Ventspils has always been good at home games.

Currently in the standings "Riga" with 45 points in 17 games takes the first place, but the RFS team is only two points behind. "Ventspils" scored 26 points and occupies the fourth position. The third place is five points away from Ventspils.
