Loss in the penalties against Spaniards

In the Korantina Homes Cup tournament in Cyprus Riga Football Club tonight played a 2:2 draw against the Spanish AFE team. In the penalties better were Spaniards and secured a place in the final. "Riga" will play against the Cypriot team "Aris" tomorrow at 10:30.

We arrived in Cyprus on Saturday and had our first training yesterday. Six teams from Cyprus, England, Spain, Latvia and Russia are participating in the tournament. "Riga" plays in Group A against the Spanish AFE team and the Cypriot team Limassol "Aris". In Group B plays Cypriot team "Paphos", "Brentford" from England and "Rodina" from Russia. The first game in Group A took place on Saturday, the Spanish players' association team defeated the Cypriot club Limassol "Aris" 2:1. There was a game in group B yesterday. "Paphos" beat "Brentford" with the scoreline of 5:1. 

Today we played actively at the beginning of the match, but the Spaniards scored the first goal. In the 17th minute, after the cross Spaniards delivered the ball close to the net and Ismael Sanchez opened the score (0:1). There were a lot of fouls and emotions in the first half, and both teams showed a great desire to win. "Riga" created several opportunities to score, but without good shots in the end. In the 36th minute, goalkeeper saved Spanish team after the shot made by Karim Louikili.  The first half of the game was interesting, after which AFE was in the lead with 1:0.

"Riga" were still active in the second half, scoring a well-deserved goal in the 60th minute. After Mikael Soisalo's cross the goal was scored by player who is on the trial in our team. In the 83rd minute AFE made a foul in the penalty area, and Soisalo made a great shot from 11 meters (2:1). At the end of the game, Wesley Nata did not take a fantastic opportunity, and almost in the next attack, the Spaniards scored and equalized (2:2).

AFE were perfect in the penalties, but we made a mistake once when Soisalo could not find the net. With this victory, the Spaniards secured a place in the final of the tournament. We will play against Cyprus' "Aris" tomorrow at 10:30.
