Important victory against "Valmiera"

Tonight, in the 18th round game of the Latvian Highest league, "Riga Football Club" won "Valmiera" with the result 1:0. The only goal for our team was scored by Mikael Soisalo.

"Valmiera" this season has proved that is ready to fight for the highest places. In the first game against "Valmiera" we lost with the result 1:2. Stefan Milosevic scored the only goal for our team.

"Riga" started the game well and immediately won the initiative. In the ninth minute, Mikael Soisalo played perfectly on the right side and made a strong shot - 1:0. In the middle of the half, Yunusa Muritala had a good chance, the Nigerian striker made a header, but Valmiera was saved by goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics. "Valmiera" did not have a really good moments in the first half, and "Riga" was in the lead with 1:0 after the first half.

"Valmiera" played more with the ball in the second half. "Riga" played disciplinedly in the defense, and goalkeeper Ivan Brkič also played safely in the goal. In the 88th minute, Daisuke Yokota made a good shot, but ball went little bit wide. After a few minutes, "Riga" could have scored a second goal - we made four good shots, but Matrevics played great. We played the last minutes of the match carefully, and with a strong team character we won 1:0.
